PhD Scholars Programme @ University College Cork, Ireland in Cancer Biology

Description: The PhD Scholars Programme in Cancer Biology welcomes applications from either EU or non-EU countries. Successful applicants must possess a primary degree (minimum 2:1 honours or equivalent) in the biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or medicine.
The research theme of the programme is cell signalling systems and gene regulation in cancer, with an emphasis of fundamental processes driving the genesis and progression of virtually all cancers. The first year of the programme includes three, laboratory rotation projects and selected courses. In the subsequent three years, each Scholar focuses on a chosen research project, leading to the award of the PhD.
Appplication: Applications are invited from high-calibre, motivated students for the 2011 PhD Scholars Programme in Cancer Biology at University College Cork, Ireland. This prestigious, four-year, PhD-training programme, funded by the Health Research Board of Ireland, aims to train scientists to the highest international standards.
Stipend: stipend of €18,000 per annum for four years plus tuition fees (at EU level).
Deadline- 21 January, 2011. Invited applicants must be available for an interview during the week of 21 March 2011. The Programme will begin on 1 October 2011.
