PhD Scholarships @ Bocconi University 2011, Italy for EU and Non EU Students- Subject: Business Administration and Management, Economics and Finance, Statistics



Description: This PhD studentship will involve collaboration between Pr. E. Tschirhart at the University of Luxembourg and Dr. G. Dupont at the Unit of Theoretical Chronobiology at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. It is expected that the student will share his/her time about equally between Luxembourg and Brussels.The objective of the project is to use a modeling-based approach to gain further insights on the mechanistic of pro-inflammatory processes occurring in major diseases. More precisely, the study will focus on the characterization of calcium-dependent oxidative activity in human neutrophils. A computational approach will be used to rationalize data from the Life Science Research Unit into a mathematical model that can predict new functional schemes.

Masters Scholarship (International) in Tourism and Leisure, @ MIB School of Management, Italy

Description: MIB School of Management of Trieste, Italy is pleased to announce a scholarship competition for applicants to the XI edition of the International Master in Tourism & Leisure. The Scholarships will cover up to 70% of the tuition fees (equivalent to 12.600,00 EUR – twelve thousand six hundred EUR). The amount of the scholarships will be discounted from the overall tuition fees. In case of course abandonment or exclusion for any reason, no amount of the scholarship will be paid or reimbursed.

Research Fellow (Postdoctoral) @ EBRI – Italy in the Metabolism in Neurodegeneration Research Laboratory –Subject-: Molecular cell biology, cell signaling






Description: This position is suitable for recently PhD qualified candidates. The awarded candidate will work on the characterization of the mitochondrial and cytosolic enzymatic pathways in the onset and unfolding of neurodegenerative diseases. The work will lead to the identification of fundamental regulatory mechanisms and novel targets for pharmacological intervention.

Doctorate Scholarship in Erasmus Mundus in Interactive and Cognitive Environment



Time period: Three years.
Description: The programme has three major focuses, that will be iteratively pursued during the whole progress of the candidate’s track. The former concerns the acquisition and the formalization of knowledge in specific advanced domains, achieved through lectures and seminars. The second aims at keeping PhD students in strict touch with leading research groups that have proven experiences in research activities in basic disciplines necessary for the PhD course in the five partner universities. The latter involves actual industry/academy joint research activities on projects in cooperation with leading ICT companies, typically under international institutional umbrellas, such as the European Research Frameworks.
Requirements: Candidates must hold a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree or equivalent title and in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of ICT engineering. Post Doctorate Fellowship @Italy :



Requirements:  In the application form, the applicants will have to explicitly  ask that their foreign degree be considered equivalent to the required Italian degree. If granted by the University governing bodies,  this equivalence will be valid only for the admission to the doctorate programs of the University. Moreover, the applicants will have  to attach to their application form the other documents listed in the following article 3.


ARTICLE 3
(Submission of the application)

The application to this pre-selection, compiled using the attached annex B application form, available on the University website at the address
www.unina.it/studentididattica/postlaurea/dottorato/en/index.jsp,  in order to be considered further in the pre-selection procedure, will have to be submitted and made to arrive to the University not later than 10th of December 2010, by one of the following methods:

-  E-mail submission to the following address:  phdnafedericoII@unina.it. In this case, all documents, including the application form signed by the applicant, will have to be attached as electronically scanned files;

- Postal shipping (by courier, express or priority mail or other equivalent means) to the following address: Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II – Ufficio Dottorato, Assegnie Borse di Studio - Palazzo degli Uffici, via Giulio Cesare Cortese, 29 – 80133 – Napoli.

- Telefax delivery to the following fax number: +39 0812537616.

All applications arrived after the 10th of December 2010, even if sent earlier, will not be accepted. The formal date that will determine if the deadline has been met will therefore not be the postal office stamp date but the reception date at the University.

Those who wish to apply to several doctorate programs will have to prepare different applications, but they can be sent in with a single mailing. If a single application form is used for applying to several programs, the University will  consider the application valid only for the
program listed first in the form.

The application, signed in the applicant’s  own hand, must contain the following statements:


a) The surname (or family name) and first name, the date and place of birth, the gender, the citizenship, the residence and address where the applicant wishes to receive any communications relating to the pre-selection, the  telephone number, the electronic mail (e-mail) address;

b) the exact denomination of the research doctorate program the application is meant for;

c) the denomination of the academic degree equivalent to the italian degree that has been obtained, the date of conferral and the name of the conferring University, and the duration of the degree program;

d) the request that the above degree be considered equivalent to the corresponding required Italian degree, for the sole purpose of the admission to the  doctorate programs of the University;  (alternatively, in the uncommon case in which the applicant already obtained a general-purpose declaration of equivalence from any Italian University, the application must indicate the name of such University and the number and date  of the Rector Decree declaring the equivalence);

e) the foreign language chosen for the oral examination, among  those listed in the following article 4;

f) the undertaking to promptly inform the University on any possible variation of the address to be used for all communications relating to this pre-selection.

Physically handicapped applicants will have to specify in the application, in compliance with the current regulations, the aid needed because of their disability as well as any need for dditional time in the completion of the examinations.

 Documents:: 1) certificate of the laurea magistrale degree (or equivalent) with the final marks;
2) official transcript or academic record listing all university-level examinations taken by the applicant and the corresponding marks obtained;
3) short description of the examinations taken (content of the courses);
4) any other document deemed useful for the degree equivalence assessment;
5) certificates of any further academic qualification, with transcripts of the examinations and program descriptions;
6) other possible academic or scientific qualifications (e.g., fellowships, post-graduate schools, titles relating with research activity, scientific publications, scores obtained in standard tests used for university admission at the international or national level, etc.);

7) recommendation letters in sealed envelopes or, alternatively, a list of names, affiliations, and contact information of professors, scientists or other appropriate persons to be contacted to obtain academic references on the applicant;
8) curriculum vitae.

If the above documents are written in a language other than Italian, English, French, Spanish or German, they have to be submitted in a version translated into one of said languages and certified for conformity to the original.

An application will be rejected if it does not include anyone of the following items:
• surname and first name;
• residence and address where the communications relating to this selection should be sent;
• the denomination of the research doctorate program to which the application is meant for;
• the denomination of the degree held or that will be obtained, with the indication of the conferral date and of the University that has conferred it or that will confer it;
• the request that the above degree be considered equivalent to the Italian laurea magistrale, for the sole purpose of the admission to the University doctorate programs;
(alternatively, the name of the University and the number and  date of the Rector Decree by which such equivalence has been already declared for general purposes).
