Job of Laboratory Assistant at ENI-ABERDEEN, university of Aberdeen


Description: Candidate will be expected to have sufficient skills to learn and to perform various analysis methods - including western blotting, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and PCR analysis - used routinely in the laboratory during your employment. In additionwe also expect from the candidate to contribute to the day to day management of the laboratory and the maintenance of the fruitfly facility..The successful candidate should possess an HND, or equivalent, in an appropriate science subject and be able to work independently and to a high standard. A degree in biological or medical sciences, chemistry or physics will be considered an advantage.
Unfortunately we are unable to consider applications from candidates for this post who require a work permit to work in the UK.
Time Period: 24 months.
Salary: It will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 3 scale (£17,111 - £19,743 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Marine Biodiversity and Fisheries Science

Description: We need to appoint two Chairs, one in the area of Marine Biodiversity and the other in Fisheries Science. The Chair in Marine Biodiversity will have outstanding achievements in understanding patterns and processes affecting biodiversity in the marine environment. Focus can be in any area, including but not limited to, relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning and services, taxonomy and evolution, conservation and management of marine systems for multiple uses and causes and consequences of biodiversity change.For the Chair in Fisheries Science, the successful candidate will be an internationally recognised expert in studies on sustainable exploitation of marine living resources.

Salary: Salary will be negotiable on the Grade 9 salary scale and will be depend upon the  qualifications and experience.
