Details: It is designed for senior professionals who wish to study at doctoral level and who work in organisations that appreciate the benefits that accrue from this special form of education. The focus of their study is their own professional practice. The two-stage research programme is non-modular and is supported by six weekend workshops per year, individual supervision and a virtual learning environment. Stage 1 can be completed full-time.

Postdoctoral Researcher Inorganic Chemistry – Multiferroic Materials, Belgium @ Hasselt University




Study Subject: Inorganic Chemistry

Description: The candidate will perform research in the Group of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry (Institute for Materials Research) of the University of Hasselt and in collaboration with the group of EMAT of the University of Antwerp.
Requirement: PhD in science or engineering with a substantial background in inorganic chemistry and wet chemical synthesis of metal oxides. Candidates who will get a PhD degree in the near future are also allowed to apply. Interest or experience in the interdisciplinary research domain of multiferroic metal oxides is considered as an asset.

Project Title: Regulation of protein function by post-translational modification

This  Position is available from 1st October 2011 in the research group of Dr Luke Chamberlain .Palmitoylation is an important post-translational modification that regulates protein trafficking and function. The aim of this project is to develop an understanding of DHHC protein regulation by screening for novel interacting proteins. The project will use a multi-disciplinary approach, including molecular biology (DNA cloning etc), biochemical, and confocal imaging techniques.
The research of the Institute is represented by five main groups:

* Infection, Immunity and Microbiology
* Integrative mammalian biology
* Pharmaceutical care and Public Health
