Description:  The Program in Hellenic Studies with the support of the Stanley J. Seeger Fund also supports a limited number of library fellowships in Hellenic studies, and the Cotsen Children’s Library supports research in its collection on aspects of children’s books. The Maxwell Fund supports research on materials dealing with Portuguese-speaking cultures. In addition, awards will be made from the Sid Lapidus ’59 Research Fund for Studies of the Age of Revolution and the Enlightenment in the Atlantic World. This award covers work using materials pertinent to this topic donated by Mr. Lapidus as well as other also relevant materials in the collections.

Description: Udall Foundation Dissertation Fellowships for US Nationals.The Endangered Language Fund provides grants for language maintenance and linguistic field work. The work most likely to be funded is that which serves both the native community and the field of linguistics. Work which has immediate applicability to one group and more distant application to the other will also be considered. Publishing subventions are a low priority, although they will be considered. Proposals can originate in any country.

PHD Scholarships @ Seafarers International Research Centre (SIRC) – Nippon Foundation PhD Fellowship, UK- Subject: Social Science

Description: They would like to invite applications for a number 4 year scholarships offering exciting opportunities to study for PhD qualifications in maritime-related social science. Based in the UK, these unique fellowships are available to graduates of maritime or social science-related disciplines who have a strong desire to undertake academic research on seafarers and the human related aspects of the maritime sector.

Applications: Applications are welcomed from residents of any country but are particularly encouraged from those living in developing regions, as well as in Asia and Japan. Applicants are expected to hold a good honours degree (usually a 1st or 2.1) in a
social science or maritime-related discipline. In addition, all applicants for whom English is a second language will be required to possess a certificate from IELTS with a minimum score of 7 or a TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 600. Tests of English as a foreign language must have been awarded no more than 2 years prior to the requested entry point to be deemed valid and all tests will be verified by the Academic Registry.

PhD Fellowship in Time Dependent Magnetic Phenomena@ Uppsala University, Sweden- Subject:Materials theory

Description: The Ph. D. student will work on time-dependent magnetic phenomena. The applicant is expected to work with analytical and computational tools for magnetisation dynamics.The Division of Materials theory is known to have a world-class research environment in the ab-initio computational research on materials properties. Besides the usage of existing state-of-the-art computational codes, a perpetual development of new methods and computational techniques is done in this department.

The applicant is expected to have a Masters degree in Physics, or equivalent, with a good background in solid-state physics. The application should include a statement of research interest, CV, certificates of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of Master thesis, published article or relevant materials, if available. Also, letter(s) of recommendation should be included.
