PhD Studentships @ University of Cambridge

Description:MRC studentships cover university and college fees,  an annual stipend at current MRC rates (£13,650 for UK citizens), a contribution towards research expenses and some incidental costs. The Department's key areas of research excellence relate to the interests of the MRC Neurosciences and Mental Health Board and include many aspects of behavioural and cognitive neuroscience such as learning and memory, hearing and vision, comparative cognition, speech and language, perception, attention and translational research related to neuropsychiatric disorders such as addiction, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, along with neuroscience in education

Eligibility: Applicants should have, or expect to achieve an upper-second or first-class degree in a relevant subject.
- Applicants must be UK nationals ordinarily resident in the UK
-     EU nationals are eligible for fees only awards.  No stipend is payable
-     An EU national with a relevant connection to the UK may be eligible to receive a stipend.  A relevant connection can be established if an individual has been ordinarily resident in the UK throughout the three years preceding the date of application.
-     Non-EU or overseas citizens are not eligible and such students should not apply
Starting date: The start date for these studentships is 1st October 2011.
Limit of tenure: 30th September 2014.

Graduate Admissions( Phd, Mphil, Msc Course) @ University of Cambridge

Requirement Description: Candidates who wish to become research students in the Department should usually have a good degree in psychology, neuroscience or in another subject (for example, physiology, linguistics, computer science, or engineering) which may provide sufficient background for research in certain areas of experimental psychology, behavioral or cognitive behavioural neuroscience.  Experience and/or training in experimental psychology is not a requirement, but may be advantageous for some research projects.

Graduate work in Cambridge is intense and very intellectually demanding and so the University has high academic entry requirements. You are normally expected to hold or to be about to achieve:
  • at least a 2.I honours degree from a UK university 
  • an equivalent standard from an overseas university
(On a 4-point GPA, we require  a minimum of 3.5 out of 4)
  • a fluent command of the English Language
  • completion of any current training or education course
