It can be pressurised at key periods with competing demands on time which the job holder must cope with, without sacrifice of the quality of service to students and colleagues. The role is varied and requires an intelligent, flexible, creative approach to problem-solving, a good grasp of administration almost certainly within the Higher Education context, a positive and energetic style of working, and an ability to establish relationships and communicate effectively with many different kinds of people (students, staff, external customers, at all levels).
