Description: Scholarship recipients may pursue an undergraduate degree in an eligible field at one of the three host institutions. Recipients will also be expected to engage in community service activities and participate in internships. The scholarship covers travel, academic fees for four years of university at AUB, AUC, or LAU, a study abroad experience in the U.S., accident and sickness insurance, housing, and a monthly allowance.
Eligibility:The program is open to high school graduates from traditionally underserved communities in the Middle East and North Africa, who are qualified but unable to afford a college education. Students enroll at the undergraduate level in a 4-year or 5-year program, depending upon the course of study elected and if a first year of English language instruction is required. Applicants must be citizens of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, UAE, or Yemen and cannot hold U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. Legal Permanent Resident.Applications:*High school senior or applicant who graduated from high school in 2010;
* Strong academic credentials;
*Proficiency in written and spoken English with a minimum Institutional TOEFL (ITP) score of 500 or the equivalent that is less than two years old;
*Maturity, flexibility and leadership potential; and
*Ability to start the program in August/September of 2011.
