Journalism Fellowships @University of Oxford, UK


Description: The Thomson Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme offers fully funded Fellowships to well established mid-career journalists from throughout the world. Fellowship for those students who have experience more than 5 years in the field of Journalism - mid-career journalists. Fellowships may be for three, six or nine months covering one or two terms or a full academic year respectively. Dates of entry are agreed with the Head of the Fellowship Programme.
Requirements: Applicants must have a minimum of five years experience in any branch of journalism and demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English to be able to participate fully in the life of the Programme and write a research paper in English of publishable quality.

Priority will be given to journalists proposing research projects within the areas of focus of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Details of these can be found within Research.
Other areas of research can be considered providing these are clearly related to the professional work of applicants and will lead to greater excellence in journalism.

Description: IDEX Fellows are based in India as consultants to a social enterprise in the low-income education sector, where they work to understand the socio-economic issues and test models to help solve these issues.
The Fellows contribute to the social enterprise where they are placed by:
* Writing and implementing 1-2 year business and project plans
* Analyzing financial systems and creating budgets
* Building market strategies
* Working with and building relationships with partner organizations
* Planning and attending social enterprise conferences, symposiums, and leadership seminars
* Conducting field-visits to established and/or emerging social enterprises

The above lists will grow organically throughout your year as an IDEX Fellow, as you are constantly introduced to and network with new companies, foundations, organizations, and individuals who share the same goal of bringing affordable education to low-income students. Eligibility : The IDEX Fellowship is open to graduating seniors and those who have graduated from an accredited university/college, having no more than two years of work experience.

AAMFT/SAMHSA Minority Fellowship Program for USA Citizens (2011-2012),@ American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy,USA


Description: The AAMFT Minority Fellowship Program’s objective is to expand the delivery of culturally competent mental health and substance abuse services to underserved minority populations, and to increase the number of doctoral level culturally competent ethnic minority Marriage and Family therapists. Our goal is to do this by providing financial support and professional guidance to ethnic minority graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in Marriage and Family therapy. Our mission–consistent with the Surgeon General’s Report on Mental Health and other federal initiatives to reduce health disparities—is to increase the pool of talented, culturally competent doctoral-level researchers, teachers and practitioners dedicated to assisting underserved minorities.
Eligibility:  Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents with an permanent residents registration card (I-151 or I-551). Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.
2).Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to a career in ethnic minority mental health and substance abuse services. This commitment must be demonstrated in the applicants essays, graduate school curriculum or training plan, practicum and internship training experiences, and thesis and dissertation topics developed.
3). Applicants should be enrolled full-time in a Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) doctoral program. Students applying to MFT doctoral programs may apply to the fellowship but you must be accepted at the time of the award to be eligible.
4).Students who are on full-time internship, who are ABD or will become ABD during the fellowship year are NOT eligible for the fellowship.
5). African American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students are especially encouraged to apply.
6).This fellowship is aimed at Marriage and Family Therapy doctoral students specializing in providing substance abuse and mental health services to minority and underserved populations.

Description: The Fellowship is offered to women scientists to pursue postgraduate research in a field of the natural sciences.This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.
The specific aims of the scheme are:
* To improve access to educational and training opportunities in science and technology for young and talented women graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa and LDCs.
* To increase the scientific productivity and creativity of women scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and LDCs.
* To empower a new generation of talented women to assume a leadership role in science and technology and their application to sustainable development.

The general purpose of the scheme is to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of women leaders in science and technology, and to promote their effective participation in the scientific and technological development of their countries.

Inter-American Foundation (IAF) Grassroots Development PHD Fellowship Program 2011-in-subject- Social sciences, Physical sciences, Technical fields



Eligibility:The applicant must be a Ph.D. student, must be currently enrolled in a U.S. university, and must have completed all course requirements and qualifying or comprehensive examinations for the doctoral degree before initiating IAF-funded field research.
* The competition is open to U.S. citizens and citizens of independent Latin American and Caribbean countries (except Cuba). Proposals for field research in Puerto Rico or the Dutch, French and British territories are not eligible.
* Applicants must speak and read the language(s) appropriate to the research. An evaluation is required.
* Each applicant must demonstrate a planned, substantive collaboration during the field research period, with a development or applied research institution in the Latin American or Caribbean country of the research. A letter confirming this affiliation is required.
* IAF Fellows cannot receive funding from other sources in support of research conducted during the period funded by the Fellowship without the IAF’s prior written consent. The IAF will not disburse funds for benefits duplicated by another donor.
* IAF Fellowship requirements prohibit application by an individual who, at the time of submission and during the period when such application is under consideration, is a party to a contract with the Inter-American Foundation to perform in-country services or is a director, officer, employee, or contractor of an in-country service organization under contract to the Inter-American Foundation. During their field research period, IAF Fellows are prohibited from being a party to a contract with the Inter-American Foundation to perform in-country services or from holding the position of a director, officer, employee or contractor of an in-country service organization under contract to the IAF.
* IAF Fellowship requirements prohibit the award of an IAF Fellowship to individuals employed by and on payroll of a U.S. government agency during the field research period, and to past IAF employees during the 12-month period following their separation from the IAF.

Description: The lab is seeking highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral fellows to study the function of transcription factor networks and higher-order chromatin structure in B lymphocytes (http://www.immunbio.mpg.de/home/research/

). Approaches used include molecular and cellular techniques, FACS analysis, in vitro cell differentiation assays and chromatin profiling.
Requirement:Candidates should have a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree with at least 3 years of proven research experience in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Imaging. Candidates should have a good publication record. Ability to work in
a team, communication skills and experience in the supervision of graduate students are an asset.
The MPI in Freiburg is an international research institute at the cross-road of Southern Germany, Switzerland and France. The working language is English.
Stipend: Salary will be according to postdoctoral fellowships of the Max-Planck-Society or TVöD and will commensurate with experience. A childcare facility is directly attached to the Institute. Women are especially encouraged to apply;handicapped applicants with equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment.

 Description: The TOEFL test is currently recognized by more than 7,500 colleges and universities around the world, including the U.K., Canada and the United States.A total of nine TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to Indian students demonstrating academic excellence. Three US$10,000 scholarships and six US$5,000 scholarships will be presented to Indian students for academic study in 2011 at a college or university listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory, including institutions in the U.K., Canada and the United States. TOEFL scholarship winners will be notified in May 2011.
Eligibility
TOEFL® scholarships will be awarded to students in India who meet the following requirements:
* You must currently be living in India.
* You must begin undergraduate or graduate study in 2011 at a college/university listed in the TOEFL Destinations Directory (PDF).
* You must hold a grade point average (GPA) of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale or 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
