Description: The Human Centered-Computing Group at the Department of Computer Science (DIKU), University of Copenhagen, Denmark invites applications for a PhD scholarship within Interaction Techniques for Wall-Sized Displays.The position is financed by the Programme Committee on Growth Technologies under the Danish Strategic Research Council. The WallViz project is a collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen (DIKU) and Aarhus University, and three partner organizations: the Danish Ministry of Interior & Health, Microsoft and Autodesk. The project will aim to better decision making in these organizations by improving database techniques to provide fast responses to ad-hoc user queries and by using highly interactive wall-sized visualizations that allow fast-paced interactive and collaborative exploration of massive data collections.
Requirements: The candidate is expected to hold an MSc in computer science or similar. The successful candidate will document (a) good programming/technical skills, (b) experience with advanced interaction techniques, and (c) potential to work closely with the prospective users of the interaction technologies (in particular, the two Danish partner organizations).

Description: The Human Centered-Computing Group at the Department of Computer Science (DIKU), University of Copenhagen, Denmark, seeks a postdoctoral researcher for the project “WallViz – Improving decision making from massive data collections using wall-sized, highly interactive visualizations”.
The position is financed by the Programme Committee on Growth Technologies under the Danish Strategic Research Council. The WallViz project is a collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen (DIKU) and Aarhus University, the Danish Ministry of Interior & Health, Microsoft and Autodesk. The project will aim to better decision making in these organizations by improving database techniques to provide fast responses to ad-hoc user queries and by using highly interactive wall-sized visualizations that allow fast-paced interactive and collaborative exploration of massive data collections.
Requirements: The candidate should be from computer science or similar, with a solid background in human-computer interaction or visualization. The successful applicant has (a) documented expertise in visualization, visual analytics, information visualization, or a similar field, and (b) documented expertise in user-centred design and evaluation, or similar activities. Previous experience with large displays, for instance interaction techniques for large displays, is an advantage, but not required.
The application must be in the form of a single PDF file and contain:

  • Curriculum Vitae incl. list of publications
  • Up to three of the candidate´s scientific publications for evaluation
  • An initial project proposal outlining what the applicant would like to achieve during the period as a post doc (maximum two pages)
  • PhD assessment committee´s provisional or final evaluation
  • A copy of the PhD diploma

Full-fee Scholarships@Loughborough University -Graduate School Development Trust Africa Scholarships:

Description: Loughborough University is delighted to announce full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students who are currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa.. The scholarships will cover 100% of the course fees for your chosen postgraduate taught course for one year (replacing any Departmental or Loughborough University scholarships or bursaries you may already have been awarded).
Students will be expected to fund their travel and maintenance costs through other sources.
Requirements: Open competition. Students may only apply for the scholarship after an offer for a place has been made. Students who are in possession of an offer (conditional or unconditional) of a place on a postgraduate taught course can apply for the scholarship using the application form which can be downloaded with the given link.Applications will be initially shortlisted and the final decision on the awards will be made by a selection panel of senior staff of the University. The selection panel will use the following eligibility criteria when assessing applications:
·         Currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa
·         Evidence of exceptional academic achievement (normally a 1st Class Honours Degree)
·         Commitment to return to their home country on completion of postgraduate programme
·         Evidence of the ability and commitment to making a significant contribution to their home country on their return
·         Full understanding of the costs involved in coming to study and live in the UK
·         Evidence of strong motivation and initiative to secure funds to cover the remainder of the costs involved
