Description: Applications are invited for up to 16 PhD Studentships in the form of fee waivers at Home/EU rate for all subject areas in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics. The studentships are open to full-time and part-time students, home/EU and international students, and current and prospective students. Suitable candidates may also be put forward for additional awards by departments to cover maintenance costs, subject to availability of such funding.

Description:The research tasks are to be negotiated on between the applicant and their supervisor. Depending on the type of funding, the main research focus can freely be decided on (PhD funding), or could be dependent on internal/external financial providers.
Requirements: Applicants should have or expect to obtain a Licentiate/Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as the above, or they are expected to have a degree equivalent to Lic./Masters.Research experience would be advantageous (e.g. by M.Sc. dissertation). Applicants should have sufficient knowledge of Dutch and/or English.

PhD student Biostatistics (2×2 years) @ Hasselt University, Belgium

Description: PhD in Mathematics, applied to research in ‘Biostatistics and Bioinformatics’
The research topic consists of biostatistical applications to answer scientific questions in pharmaceutical discovery and development. Data coming from different phases in the pharmaceutical research will be available to focus on statistical method development for allometric scalling. Some of the data come from the area of pharmacokinetics, in-vitro and in-vivo experimentation including clinical trial data. The data of the different phases will have to be analyzed on an individual basis. However development of statistical methods to link the different phases to one another will also be an important part of the research. Statistical models that will be considered include : linear and non-linear mixed models, surrogate-marker methodology, multivariate projection methods and meta-analysis.

Requirements: Master degree in (Bio-)Statistics or an equivalent degree. Research experience is considered an advantage (e.g. by M.Sc. dissertation). Applicants should have a good knowledge of English. Presentation of TOEFL-results or an equivalent certificate of knowledge of English is
