Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2011 @ TWAS-BIOTEC, Thailand- Subject: Biotechnology

Description: Fellowship For young scientists from developing countries (other than Thailand) who wish to pursue advanced research in the biotechnology at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), Thailand.TWAS-BIOTEC Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable in BIOTEC and its affiliated research units for a period of twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) months and are awarded to young scientists from developing countries (other than Thailand) to enable them to pursue advanced research in the biotechnology.
* BIOTEC will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food.

Requirements:
Candidate Should * Be nationals of a developing country (other than Thailand).
* Hold a PhD degree in any of the following fields: molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology and bioinformatics and related disciplines.
* Apply for the fellowship within five years of having obtained a PhD degree in the fields indicated above.
* Be regularly employed at a research and/or teaching institution in their home country where they must hold a research assignment.
* Provide an official Acceptance Letter from BIOTEC. Requests for acceptance must be directed to BIOTEC Research Unit Coordination Division (e-mail rucd [at] biotec.or.th) who will facilitate assignment of a host supervisor.
* Provide evidence of proficiency in English.

Postgraduate Fellowship Programme for Young Scientists from Developing Countries @ TWAS-ICCBS, Pakistan- Subject: Chemical and biological sciences

Description: The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) — comprising the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research, Karachi, Pakistan — and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in chemical and biological sciences.Applicants should be aware that they can apply for only one fellowship per year. With the exception of the fellowships “for research collaboration”, all other fellowship programmes offered by TWAS and TWOWS that are mutually exclusive.
TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowships are tenable at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) – comprising the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular and Drug Research, www.iccs.edu – for a period of up to four years for studies leading to a PhD degree in the following fields: organic chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular medicine, pharmacology or physical chemistry.
Applicants may be registered for a PhD degree in their home country (SANDWICH option), or may enrol in a PhD course at ICCBS (FULL-TIME option). In both cases, the programme entails only one journey to the host country.
Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:
* be a maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the year of application;
* hold a Master’s degree in a field of natural sciences;
* be nationals of a developing country (other than Pakistan);
* provide a certificate of good health from a qualified medical doctor;
* provide an official Acceptance Letter from the supervisor or head of department at ICCBS (see sample Acceptance Letter included in the application form).

Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries 2011@ Centres of Excellence in the South- Subject: Natural sciences

Description: The fellowship is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.
* Only women scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and/or one of the Least Developed Countries can apply.
* Host institutions must be located in a developing country.
* Applications that are incomplete or illegible cannot be considered. Please make sure all the requested enclosures are submitted together with your application.
The Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) with funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a Ph.D., at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.
The general purpose of the scheme is to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of women leaders in science and technology, and to promote their effective participation in the scientific and technological development of their countries.

Postdoctoral Fellowship @ TWAS-CEMB, Pakistan- Subject: Molecular biology and Molecular genetics

Description: TWAS-CEMB Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable at departments of the National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) for a minimum period of six months to a maximum period of twelve months in the following fields: molecular biology, molecular genetics, plant molecular biology or medical molecular biology.
* CEMB will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs such as food, accommodation and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
* The language of instruction is English.
Requirements:
Candidate  must* Be a maximum age of 45 years on 31 December of the application year;
* Be nationals of a developing country (other than Pakistan);
* Be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there;
* Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences;
* Provide an official letter of acceptance from CEMB (see sample of acceptance letter included in the application form).
* Provide evidence of proficiency in English.
