Funded PhD Studentship in Behaviour Analysis in Online Communities and Social Networks
The Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) at the National University of Ireland Galway is seeking applications for a funded PhD student. The successful candidate will join the EU-funded FP7 ROBUST project team in DERI at NUI Galway, which focuses on the analysis of online community and social network content and structure, predicting its evolution and making suitable suggestions for rapid action or stimulation.
Criteria: The successful candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, maths, science or engineering, have the pre-requisites for PhD studies at NUI Galway, and must have good English-writing skills. Further, good programming and data analysis skills are expected. The PhD studentship covers academic fees, a generous monthly stipend and a research travel allowance for a three-year period, as well as the use of DERI's facilities for experimentation and research.
In addition, the following criteria are desirable but not necessary:
· Masters or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline or topic;
· Familiarity with graph algorithms and theory (e.g., finding connected components efficiently) and with social network analysis;
· Familiarity with dynamic text and topic analysis
· Familiarity with modelling and simulation;
· Familiarity with large-scale, dynamic data analysis (e.g., data streaming algorithms);
· Familiarity with data mining, feature selection and machine learning
· Familiarity with parallel algorithms;
